What is Data minimisation?

The notion of data minimisation includes restricting data collection to only what is required to satisfy a specified objective. When an organisation employs data minimisation, any processing they undertake only uses the least amount of data necessary. Under the GDPR, enterprises are encouraged to practise data minimisation because data is sometimes collected and saved indefinitely. This method creates massive stockpiles of data that are difficult to safeguard, organise, and manage.
