What are Special categories of personal data?
Additional safeguards are in place for sensitive personal data under the GDPR. Article 9 of the GDPR lists "special categories" of personal data. Racial or ethnic data, political views, religious and philosophical ideas and union membership are some of the more specialised types of personal data that may be collected. For the goal of identifying a natural person, genetic and biometric data are processed Sex life and orientation of a natural person are also included in this category of personal data.
